I’ve thought about this topic a lot, multiple times. And I want to bring it to your attention. Now I know this isn’t my usual post, but please hang with me. The topic I’d like to talk about is, yes, the Cars universe. Specifically, this part of Cars 2.
Yes, the Pope car inside a Popemobile. The implications are, honestly, staggering. It spawns questions, with each in turn spawning their own until you wish you had never thought about it.
Firstly, a Pope car implies Catholicism. Catholicism implies Judaism and religions, further implying Buddhism, Taoism, Calvinism and others to name a few. Thinking its weird yet? Well, this, actually let me interrupt myself, this is reminding me of Euclid’s Proofs, where you can start with one and use it to prove a lot of things in math, alright history lesson over, back to ‘well, this,’ universe having religion, the same religion as our world, implies that their history is the same as ours.
You get what this means? Crusades, WW I and II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Hundred Years War, War for Independence, American Civil War, French and Indian war, War of the Roses, ect. You can figure out where this goes.
If we have these wars and religions, and history, then we have historical figures as well. They also people from our time, such as Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Which means there is a Henry VIII car who wanted an heir so he started the Anglican Church when it didn’t go right for him. There was Montezuma the Aztec car, and Cortez as well. Shall we go back? Leif Erikson car sailing over the pacific on his wooden boat, presumably alive if Cars 2 has anything more to say.
Let’s not forget the Arnold Schwarzenegger car from the first Cars.
This is our proof for celebrities. And if we have Arnold, I say its safe to presume there is a Sylvester Stallone car who starred in Rambo, First Blood. Was there a J.R.R. Tolkien Car who wrote The Lord of the Hubcaps? Have your own ideas about this one.
Can we go back to WW II? I’m thinking of the Pacific where the Americans fought the Japanese. If we return to the idea of sentient boats, which there are, then we can know that all the boats, planes, and soldiers(cars), and tanks, are sentient, and alive. B21 bombers. How did the bombs work? Are they stored in the plane till it uses them?
Now, there is one problem here. The Cars universe does raise a lot of questions doesn’t it?
This is the character I’m thinking of. She is an older car, and as you can see, her model is an old model of car. Here is my next question: does the history of Cars start when cars were invented, or were there always cars as long as Humankind’s history has lasted. Were there dinosaurs cars? I will ask and answer that when I get to babies. Personally, I’d say our friend the Pope Car and the queen say otherwise. Their implications are just too strong to say that Cars’ history begins with the invention of cars. No, there had to always be cars, but Lizzie does pose a question and problem.
I said babies, yes, I am willing to get into this, are you? Do cars in Cars give birth, lay eggs, or do they reproduce by building more of them in factories? There are also bug cars, seen in the first Cars.
Don’t know if this is from the first or not, but you can see what it is. This means that some cars can reproduce since bugs do, or that the sentient cars make themselves and bugs and all wildlife. Remember the Tractors? I won’t answer this one cuz I don’t know. And if they did have babies, are they the same model as the parents? Do they grow?
Cars three mentions Next Gen Racers which are faster than McQueen. This might seem like factories are the answer. But if so, why can’t McQueen just upgrade himself so he is as fast as the Next Gen racers? He got headlights instead of the stickers. Just saying.
I forgot about dinosaurs. This goes the other way and says factories are a no. If human life began after dinosaurs, then the cars couldn’t have made the dinosaur cars in factories. The bug cars and tractor cows say that the dinosaurs, and all wildlife, are vehicles. Some intelligent, some not. And how does it work out perfectly so that there are tow trucks to help those in need. I don’t think evolution can help this either.
Back to Pope Car. The thing that this makes me think of, and I don’t like it, is the fact that he is in the body of the Popemobile car. Battleships and Aircraft Carries imply the same thing.
One last thing: Dodo bird cars.
Thank you for reading, and I hope this gives you minutes of thought and you start to think of it like I do. I really don’t want to apologize. I could really have gotten into the more darker aspects of the Cars Universe, but I’d rather not here on Substack.
Have a good day, God Bless!
A brilliant rant Harold. I am amazed at the way your brain works. You read like the cliché hardcore comic book fanatic that discusses obscure details and what if scenarios involving superheroes with their friends at lunch in the university cafeteria, complete with condiment bottle battle reenactments... No offense. It's the kind of fans I wish to have one day because I'm precisely that kind of fan. Thanks for this incredibly fun thought experiment on this Sci-Friday. I really enjoyed it.🧡
